What to know
A blocked downpipe makes the gutter above it overflow even if the gutter itself is clean. Water bubbling out of a downpipe joint, or a gurgling sound in heavy rain, are common signs.
Downpipes should run into a gully or drain. A downpipe that empties onto the ground next to the wall can cause damp in the house over time.
